Hello, there! I’m Nigel, founder of Student Aid Struggle.
You know, it doesn’t feel like I was in college that long ago. It’s been over 3 years and I’ve already made tremendous progress with paying back my student loans. I racked up quite the tab starting out as a Computer Science major and then switching to being an Art major instead. I had over $30,000 in student debt by the time I got out. I’ll be honest, since graduating college with my Associate of Arts degree, I haven’t really put it to use. I didn’t get a job
I’ll be honest, since graduating college with my Associate of Arts degree, I haven’t really put it to use. I didn’t get a job in the field I studied because there weren’t that many jobs on the market in my town. I ended up settling for a minimum wage position at a local arts and crafts store just to be able to pay my rent. College life felt so much easier when I could live off of loans…and I wasn’t making enough to even make a dent in repaying my student debt. I struggled like that for a full year, merely trying to make ends meet.
Then something awesome happened.
I was fed up with having to work long hours for measly pay, so I turned to something I had read about previously. If you haven’t heard the term “passive income” or “residual income” it pretty much is an income stream that generates you money after only setting it up once. You might have to do minor maintenance with your source of income, but it generally runs fine all by itself. If you can imagine, this kind of income stream really frees up your time and that’s what I wanted…more free time.
I did a little digging into the idea of passive income and learned that there were many methods to getting started from investing in stocks online to renting out housing properties. I didn’t have that kind of money to put down towards a project though and ended up deciding to go with internet marketing…affiliate marketing in particular.
Affiliate marketing is where you create a means to provide information of value to an audience and then direct their attention towards a product or service that can help solve whatever problem you wrote about. The creators of these products or services have affiliate programs where they agree to pay you a decent commission for bringing them clientele. Sometimes the pay is small, but it can add up quickly. Other times, there is a sizeable payment or even monthly payments for showing certain programs to your audience.
That’s what I’ve been doing the last 2 years. I don’t want to get into numbers, so let’s just say that I make enough to pay my rent and bills and I have enough left over to support my hobbies and a comfortable lifestyle. My student loans haven’t been fully paid off yet, but I have made a huge dent in them and I expect to have them paid off in full within the next few months.
If you want to pay off your educational debt, I can’t recommend enough that you get started with creating a passive income today. It’s not difficult and I explain it in a bit more detail on the page Getting Started . Give it a chance, it might change your life. I know it changed mine. Lastly, don’t forget to comment your thoughts and opinions below. I get to them as often as I can!
