YouTube Secrets Review – Is a Scam?

YouTube Secrets Review 2017

Overall Ranking: 5 out of 10
Price: $1 7 Day Trial (Join Here), $27/Month
Owner: Alun Hill

YouTube SecretsHave you ever wondered how people make money on YouTube? Some people do it for a living. Some people earn thousands of dollars a month from YouTube ad revenue alone.

YouTube Secrets claims to have the secrets to making money on youtube without using any of your own content. Alun claims that you can make money on YouTube without filming your own videos, using your own music, and without having to do any kind of marketing.

Will YouTube Secrets stand up to these claims? Or is a scam site?

  • 60-Day No Questions Asked Money Back Guarantee
  • 60+ Lessons, including Video tutorials and PDF guides
  • 1 on 1 Coaching
  • PDF Bonuses
  • Email Support
  • Lifetime Updates

  • No Live Support
  • Difficult to Cancel Membership
  • Some of the PDF Bonuses are Obsolete
  • Unsure of the Response Time for 1 on 1 Coaching
  • Support Response Time May Take Days

The money back guarantee is nice for this site and you might very well use it. The lessons are pretty straightforward and fairly short. You might be able to get through all of the lessons in one day if you are dedicated enough. The PDF bonuses can be helpful, but a few of them were so dated that the information in them was no longer relevant. Some of the PDFs date back to the very start of YouTube…

I have not personally taken part in the 1 on 1 coaching, so I won’t comment on the usefulness of it in the big picture. As for the lifetime updates, the site was updated in the 7 days that I had used it. I’m uncertain as to the regularity of the updates since there are no dates on any of the updated content.

This site doesn’t have live support and I find that to be a pretty big issue. When I wanted to cancel my membership, I had trouble using the membership cancellation form. It kept giving me an error saying that my login and password were wrong…even though I was already logged in and the form didn’t require them.

SupportEmailing support about the issue didn’t get me very far. I tried for 2 straight days to cancel my membership, checking every few hours to see if the error had changed. On the third day, I got so frustrated with their support that I went through Clickbank’s tech support to report my issues and cancel my membership.

It wasn’t until after Clickbank had already canceled my membership that I received any response from support. If the response time from support is any indicator, I would guess that the time it takes for a response from 1 on 1 coaching could take days as well.

YouTube Secrets is for anyone that wants to make a little extra cash through YouTube. It contains information that nearly everyone would find useful. The only people that might not get any value out of this are the ones that already know how to implement the use of creative commons media, understand how to make proper use of video titles, keywords, and descriptions, and know how to get the most out of their video views.

YouTube beginners will find the information within this product incredibly valuable as it shows you how to use other peoples’ content in your own videos and not get a strike from YouTube.

The training that comes with this product is fairly straightforward and to the point. The directions are not hard to follow, so it should be a breeze going through the lessons.

The 60+ lessons that come with the product are a combination of mostly videos and some short PDFs. Each video is around 5-15 minutes long and covers one aspect of making money on YouTube. The PDFs pretty much just emphasize the information you pick up from the videos and are only a few pages long for each.

The lessons cover several topics on YouTube. You’ll learn how to use the YouTube video editor. You will also learn where to find creative commons media to use in the videos you create and how to properly make use of titles, keywords, and descriptions. Alun also teaches you how to make use of different YouTube features to help maximize your overall views.

There are quite a few things that the lessons don’t cover, however. For instance, there isn’t much emphasis on niche research that I can remember from my trial. There isn’t really an explanation on how to find a profitable niche to base your videos on.

While the lessons are simple to follow, it might be easy to get lost. There is only one marker when you are actually in a lesson. That marker just displays the lesson you are currently on. There are no bookmarks for when you want to leave the site for the day and come back later.

Tech SupportThe support for this site is just awful. There is only email support and the process of trying to get an answer from anyone takes days. I believe it took them 3 or 4 days to answer my email about canceling my membership, which could have potentially pushed me over the 7-day trial period and forced me to pay the first monthly fee.

It would have been incredibly inconvenient to have to go through the process of trying to get my money back even though I wanted to stop my membership before it was to become an issue.

For $1, you can start a 7-day trial on YouTube Secrets. This is long enough to check out all of the lessons available and even read some of the bonus content. There really isn’t much left after that, since you can just download the bonus PDFs and read them on your own time.

The monthly membership is $27. The only reason I can see for sticking around with the monthly membership is if you are absolutely new to YouTube and you really need 1 on 1 help directly from Alun Hill. Other than that, there’s nothing tying you to a monthly membership.

Joining with the $1 trial is worth the money. You learn quite a bit about how to properly use creative commons videos and music to make unique videos for YouTube. Being able to create these CC based videos is a useful skill to have. If you want to run a YouTube channel, it basically guarantees that you will always have something to make a video about as there are hundreds of thousands of creative commons content, if not more.

My overall rating for YouTube Secrets is 5 out of 10. I don’t strongly recommend the product, but it is worth a go if the topic interests you. Just be warned about the horrible support and watch the days that you are a member so you don’t accidentally go passed when you intend to stop.

Making money on YouTube through ad revenue is just a single aspect of making money online. I definitely recommend learning about the bigger picture so you better understand online money making concepts. There are programs on the internet that teach you everything you need to know about topics like affiliate marketing.

One such program is one that I use daily. It’s called Wealthy Affiliate University. Through Wealthy Affiliate University, I learned all about affiliate marketing and how easy it was.

For $0 (free) you can begin a Starter Membership which gives you access to 2 free websites, 2 classrooms, a community of over 700,000+ members, and 7 days access to ask your own questions and get answers from the community and the owners.

Let’s take a quick look at the differences between Wealthy Affiliate and YouTube Secrets:

How to Sell Other People’s Products Online – Affiliate Marketing How-to

If you’ve been around this site a little bit, you’re probably familiar with the term “Affiliate Marketing” by now…

A Potential BuyerIf you aren’t familiar with the term, then read my explanation on “What is Affiliate Marketing and Does It Work“. It gives you a quick overview of affiliate marketing and how simple it actually can be.

It’s good to understand the term going into this post because if you want to make money from home, it’s good to know how to sell other people’s products online.

In this affiliate marketing how-to, we’re going to cover the basics of getting started with selling other people’s products. We’ll go over how to pick a niche, how to find products, and what are the main traffic sources for customers ready to buy.

We’ll also touch on the main avenues for displaying your selected products.

How to Pick a Niche

A niche is very important in the affiliate marketing world. A niche is a passion or hobby that a small group of people has that you can use to sell products.

For instance, a broad niche is something like “makeup products”. Starting out, you don’t want to target a niche like that because of the stiff competition you’d be going up against.

You want to go much more specialized with your targeting. “Organic makeup brands” for example is a much smaller niche that still has decent traffic and far less competition.

When you pick a niche, pick something you’re passionate about as it makes trying to sell a product much easier. You’ll be creating content for this niche that should be informative and helpful (more on this later).

How to Find Products

After you pick your niche, you’re going to want to see if there are any products on the internet that you can make money from.

To find them, you want to go to Google (or your search engine of choice) and type in a term related to your niche and then “affiliate program”. It will come out looking like “your niche + affiliate program” without the quotations.

Using the makeup example, you can easily join Amazon’s affiliate program and choose from their vast selection of products.

With Amazon, you start off by making 4% commission on every purchase someone makes using your link. Your commission percentage increases as your sales increase.

Other affiliate programs will pay you in different percentages, so just look for products that match your niche.

How to Display Your Selected Products

The Natural LookThe way you choose to try and sell your selected products matters. Sometimes, it may be just as easy as posting a link on Facebook or Twitter but that will get you fewer conversions than if you build an authority site focused on your niche.

An authority site could be a blog, your social network, or even a YouTube channel.

To build an authority using one of those methods, you will need content and update your site at least weekly. You want to inform your audience about different aspects of your niche and then offer a related product that solves some problem in that niche.

Using the makeup example, you’d want to choose a topic like “how to create a natural look using organic cosmetics”. The problem there would be “what organic products should be used” and you just point them in the right direction.

What Are the Main Traffic Sources for Customers Ready to Buy

There are really 3 main traffic sources you want to leverage when trying to sell a product.

First, there are search engine rankings. The lower your rank, the better (rank 1 is the best). You want to choose a term that people are searching for when they’re in a buying mood.

With your makeup niche, you would choose something like “where to buy organic makeup”. You would then create content around that term.

Once you create that content, you want to share the link anywhere you can. This could be on social networks (great places to have a link go viral), forum signatures, email signatures, or the comment section of blogs.

As Google or other search engines find your link, your site gets indexed and you begin the ranking process.

Next, you’ll definitely want to make use of social networks. Social networks are great, thriving communities of consumers.

People are always sharing information about their favorite passions and products there. When you share your content on a social network, the goal is to get people to share it as much as possible.

You want to make your information as informative and entertaining as possible. The more someone likes your content, the more likely they are to share it. This is a fantastic way to have content go viral and be shared all over the internet.

YouTubeLastly, you want to use accounts on video sharing sites like YouTube. With this one, you’re going to need a mic and maybe a camera but you can get away with just the former.

This is another place where you want your information to be as informative and entertaining as possible so people are inclined to share it.

The difference here is that you’re the one talking to them instead of them reading your content.

Tutorials do great here so make use of them as often as possible.

Video sites are amazing for traffic and if you’re using YouTube, you are much more likely to pop up on the first page of Google with a targeted niche.

These are just the basics of affiliate marketing.

Owners: Kyle and Carson

Internet MarketingLet’s face it, these days the web is filled with internet marketing scams and programs that don’t live up to the hype. Different courses and “coaching” available don’t meet the promises they make. It’s a sad truth, but there is not much out there that you can rely on.

Is that the case with Wealthy Affiliate? WA promises to provide step-by-step guides to get you started with affiliate marketing.

They promise to provide you with great member support. They promise that you will understand affiliate marketing and will be making money online before you’re even completely finished with the lessons.

That’s an awful lot to promise, right? Is Wealthy Affiliate worth it? Does WA deliver or are they all talk?

Let’s find out.

  • Video training, Tutorial training, Courses
  • 10,000’s of Community Members
  • 13+ Fully Interactive Classrooms
  • Live and Interactive Help
  • Up to 50 Websites
  • State of the Art Hosting
  • Access to Industry Experts
  • A Strict, Spam-Free Environment
  • Start for $0 (Free)

  • Wealth of Information May Be Overwhelming
  • Some Lesson References are Outdated (Could Use an Update)
  • Lessons Could Use Better Editing for More Professional Looking Content (General Typos)

The training and courses are very thorough. The step-by-step directions are easy to follow and will result in great content.

The community for WA is huge. There is so much interaction happening at all times. WA has members worldwide and many of the members are incredibly helpful and motivating.

Each classroom in WA teaches about one aspect of internet marketing. There is constantly new content being added all the time. Members create new training on the different topics daily, so there is always something new to learn.

WebsiteWith a Premium Membership in WA, you are able to create 25 free websites on the SiteRubix domain and 25 hosted domains where you purchase the URL yourself. Having access to 50 websites means you will always have something to work on and profit from.

Your websites hosted by WA have a redundancy server that way your site is up almost 100% of the time. If the main server fails for your site, the redundancy server will kick in and pick up the slack.

Many of the community members in WA are experts in their industries. You will find that these people are incredibly helpful and are willing to point you in the right direction when you need the assistance.

WA really cracks down on spam. Any accounts made that are intended to spam messages to the community are quickly discovered and eliminated.

The great thing about Wealthy Affiliate is that you can start for free. The Starter Membership requires no payment and no credit card information. You get limited access to the program, but it’s enough to see what kind of content and support you can expect from the WA community.

In my opinion, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The cons seem very insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I tend to overemphasize grammar and the outdated references are still understandable.

A few of the references may cause a little confusion, though. For instance, in the past, it seems that WA used to offer unlimited free websites under the SiteRubix platform while now it is only up to 25 free websites. Since websites use resources and the number of community members grows every year, it’s no wonder that the number of free websites had been reduced…it’s simply business.

The ones who will benefit the most from the Wealthy Affiliate program are the beginners and the intermediate internet marketers. While experts may find the different tools in WA to be quite useful, the lessons and community are tailored more towards those still learning aspects of affiliate marketing.

Just StartingFor absolute beginners, the recommended membership level is the Starter Membership (Join Here). You will begin with the absolute basics of affiliate marketing.

You will have access to 2 classrooms to limit your information intake and prevent you from becoming overwhelmed. Following the 2 separate classrooms will get you well on your way towards having a profitable website.

With the starter membership, you get access to 2 free websites on the SiteRubix platform for WordPress. Also, for the first 7 days of your membership, you will have the option of joining premium for $19 for the first month instead of the normal $49. In 7 days time, you should know whether or not premium is for you.

For those with the basic knowledge of website building already, the recommended membership level is the Premium Membership (Join Here). This membership level will give you access to all of the video training and guided tutorials.

You will also gain access to tools and services not offered with the starter membership.

One of the main tools available is the WA Keyword Tool which allows you unlimited keyword searches and provides you with the kind of traffic and competition you can expect.

With the premium membership, you also get access to 25 free websites on the SiteRubix platform for WordPress as well as the option of hosting 25 domains that you can purchase.

Following the Premium Membership lessons and asking questions will get you much closer to having a profitable website. By the end of the lessons, you SHOULD be making some sales. If you get lost at any point, just be sure to ask the community for help and they will get you back on the right path.

The premium membership of WA has access to many more tools and services than the starter membership has. Let’s take a look at the differences to show you what you get from each membership level.

Wealthy Affiliate Membership Grid

As you can see, a premium membership definitely has its advantages. However, you can still begin with a starter membership and learn the basics to get off the ground. It’s best to take advantage of the community support early on and ask as many questions as you need to in order to understand the content.

The support for Wealthy Affiliate is astounding. If you have any questions at all, you can ask the community and expect a response in a few minutes. The community alone provides ample support for its members.

If you wish not to ask the community, there is a search bar that you can ask the question in and it will pull up a list of blogs, lessons, and videos that may be related to what you’re searching for. The search is very comprehensive and can provide you with dozens of results to choose from.

Once you join as a premium member, you will have access to 24/7/365 website support. If you have an issue with one of your sites anytime, day or night, holidays or weekends, you WILL get the help you need.

Lastly, if you need to contact the owners for any reason, you can direct your private message to their inbox. Kyle and Carson check their messages daily and get back to you as fast as they can. They get a lot of mail, though, so expect to be waiting a little bit before they can get back to you. You just have to be realistic with your expectations there.

PriceMembership at Wealthy Affiliate has 3 price points.

The Starter Membership is $0 (free) and provides you with 2 free websites, access to 2 classrooms, and allows you 7 days to ask questions and receive answers from the community and the owners.

The Premium Membership is $49 a month and provides you with up to 50 websites, access to all classrooms, access to the full community, and access to all WA tools and resources (including weekly live videos). If you sign up for premium within your first 7 days of joining WA, you get your first month of premium for $19.

There is also another option for Premium Membership. You may choose to pay a yearly cost of $359. This gives you a 39% discount on a full year of premium.

That discount leaves you with an extra $229 that you might use towards purchasing domains or paying for website promotion…or maybe you can use that money towards your bills. Whatever the case, you save quite a bit when paying yearly.

I wish I could say that this was an unbiased review, but after having joined the Wealthy Affiliate program and seeing all that it had to offer, I was sold. This very website was created after joining the WA program and was directed by the lessons provided. This site is an example of one kind of website you will be making through the step-by-step tutorials.

Overall, I do give Wealthy Affiliate a 9.5 out of 10, despite its minor flaws. Sure, the site isn’t perfect, but the value that it provides for the price of membership is phenomenal. If you have any doubts at all about WA, just try the starter membership.

Check out the website and see the kind of quality content you can expect with a premium membership. Should you enjoy the starter membership, definitely consider taking advantage of the $30 discount for your first month of premium.

Compared to all of the other programs I’ve tried, WA has definitely been the most useful. Sure, you get access to different tools and services in other programs, but the community just is not the same.

Everyone is so active and helpful in WA that it’s shocking. Even the owners take part in conversations and encourage their members to take action on the lessons and gently push them towards success. It’s refreshing to see how involved they are. I really just wish I had found WA sooner.

I am completely satisfied with the tutorials, tools, and support that I have been provided with under the premium membership. I really just wish I had found WA sooner. Is Wealthy Affiliate worth it? Absolutely.
